T.O.R. Workplace Excellence Series

T.O.R. established an on-going speaking program called the T.O.R. Workplace Excellence Speaker Series.  Our first session entitled, “From Memos 2 My Space; What’s New About the Four-Generation Workplace, ” featured speakers such as Tracy Wymer, Senior Director Research and Strategy from Knoll Inc., Sally Mills, Prinicpal and Interior Designer of Omicron, Doris Bentley, Managing Director of Centrepoint Career Management Ltd and our very own Perry Gorgounis, Partner and Sales Manager.

Held at the Terminal City Club on Thursday, April 30, 2009, the event was attended by people from companies such as Blue Castle Games, Gore Mutual Insurance Company, GWL Realty Advisors, Justice Institute of BC, North Shore Credit Union, The Arbutus Club and Trialto Wine Group. 

In this interactive forum, the speakers highlighted key generation identifiers relating to social cultural, workplace differences and the evolving physical workplace.  The research demonstrated how the application of new technology and the dynamics of multi-generations in the workplace and the physical environment impact productivity and social connections.  Participants shared how people from their organizations communicate with their coworkers and highlighted the different working styles within each of the companies' departments relative to the generational definitions.  Ultimately, in light of the changes that are happening, everybody discussed ways companies can value their workforce and maintain promising levels of engagement and employee satisfaction.
